Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ speaks to a man (identifiable as Robert McNamara) as he studies a paper ("South Vietnam Presidential Campaign"). On LBJ’s desk are other papers ("South Vietnam", "Military Campaign", "Pacification Campaign", "Propaganda Campaign"). Caption: “If We Don't Win This One, Bob--Maybe We'd Better Pull Out!”. Artist signature lower right: "L.D. Warren”.

Historical NoteIn September 1967, South Vietnam held an election resulting in the victory of Nguyen Van Theiu as president and Nguyen Cao Ky as vice president. The election brought an end to Ky’s term as prime minister in a military junta that governed South Vietnam since 1965. Robert McNamara was the US Secretary of Defense.
