Historical NoteSome conservatives believed the Vietnam War was necessary to fight Communism. The pro-war movement arose partially in response to the anti-war movement, leading to marches and demonstrations, such as the one at the University of Pittsburgh described in this cartoon. These demonstrators believed that Lyndon Johnson wasn’t doing enough to win the war and they wanted him to escalate it further.
