Physical DescriptionOriginal five-frame cartoon drawing. Frame 1: LBJ at a podium says “We are fighting in Vietnam to stop the spread of Communism!". Frame 2: A man on TV says “We are fighting in Vietnam to stop the spread of Communism". Frame 3: A voice on the radio says "We are fighting in Vietnam to stop the spread of Communism”. Frame 4: A man holds up a newspaper ("Must stop Red spread, LBJ says” “President explains Vietnam situation”) while saying “Read all about it…”. Historical NoteThe Antiwar Movement (1964-1973) emerged in response to the Vietnam War and included many activist groups such as the Students for a Democratic Society and the Yippies and used tactics such as mass demonstrations, sit-ins, teach-ins, and guerilla theater.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
