Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. Two men stand before two portraits of LBJ. The first man (“LBJ critics”) looks at a smaller, cropped picture that only shows LBJ with a black eye (“Vietnam”). The second man ("LBJ Defenders") stands by a larger picture of LBJ with the black eye surrounded by people ("Poverty efforts”, “Civil Rights”, “Education") and papers (“Legislative Successes”, “Domestic Programs”). Caption: “Nothing Wrong with Your Picture--It's Just That Your Frame Is Too Small”. Artist signature lower right: "CP Houston".

Historical NoteLyndon Johnson cared about how he would be remembered in history. While at the start of his presidency, he was known more for his Great Society and civil rights domestic policies, he would later also be associated with his involvement in Vietnam.
