Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man (“Anti-USA Foreign Policy 'Arty' Group”) with an eye patch ("Blind to Aggression of Reds") wears a ragged shirt while writing a letter (“To L.B.J. Roses are Red Poets are Blue We don’t like your Viet Nam Policy… and Phooey to you!”). A torn-up invitation to the White House is nearby. Caption: “​​The Man in the Soiled Shirt”. Artist signature lower left: "Hy Rosen”.

Historical NoteThe Antiwar Movement (1964-1973) emerged in response to the Vietnam War and included many activist groups such as the Students for a Democratic Society and the Yippies and used tactics such as mass demonstrations, sit-ins, teach-ins, and guerilla theater.
