He has found only two soldiers but another man is rolling a barrel ("Reserve Forces") down the hill from the Capitol. A small piece of paper “Copley News Service” adhered to lower left. Historical NoteAbout one-third of American soldiers that fought in Vietnam were drafted. Many men avoided the draft through college deferments and family connections, so it disproportionately affected men from poorer backgrounds. Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
