Historical NoteHarold Wilson, the prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1964-1970, did not offer military aid to the United States during the Vietnam War, but he did not condemn American actions. Ludwig Erhard, the chancellor of West Germany, did not offer military aid either, but he did provide humanitarian aid to South Vietnam.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
