Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ trudges in snow up to his waist ("Lonely Vietnam Pass"). A lion, flying a British flag on its upright tail, nears with a keg ("Wilson's Strong Support") attached at its neck. Artist signature lower right: "LePelley".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: "2-15-66" "Lion" "no cap".
Historical NoteHarold Wilson, the prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1964-1970, did not offer military aid to the United States during the Vietnam War, but he did not condemn American actions.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
