Physical DescriptionPair of cufflinks with a rectangular white gold plate with a florentine finish set with a single cabochon ruby framed on each side by two brilliant-cut diamonds and two baguettes. Reverse is stamped "18K." Given with 4 matching shirt studs (1968.17.1 B-E).
Historical NoteThese cuff links were given together with matching shirt studs to President Johnson by His Excellency Ferdinand E. Marcos, President of the Philippines, and Mrs. Marcos. Presentation was likely through a messenger from the Philippine embassy.

Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to President Lyndon B. Johnson during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
