Physical DescriptionOne of four matching whiite gold shirt studs (1968.17.1 B-E) set with a single cabochon ruby surmounted by two small brilliant-cut diamonds. Stamped "18K." Given with matching cufflinks 1968.17.1 (A)
Historical NoteThis shirt stud is part of a set of four given together with matching cufflinks to President Johnson by His Excellency Ferdinand E. Marcos, President of the Philippines, and Mrs. Marcos. Presentation was likely through a messenger from the Philippine embassy.

Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to President Lyndon B. Johnson during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
