Physical Description14K textured gold tie bar with an open circle and a relief bridge section across the center. Bas-relief lettering around circle: "Verrazano Bridge". Alligator clip on back. Text on back: "14K".
Historical NoteThis gold Verrazzano Bridge tie bar was given to President Johnson in January 1965 by Congressman John M. Murphy of New York. The Verrazzano Bridge crossed the Narrows, connecting Staten Island with New York City. The bridge opened on November 21, 1964.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
