Physical DescriptionPlain gold-tone rectangular tie bar, with bas-relief of an astronaut on moon's surface. Inscribed "Apollo" below the image. On the reverse: General Electric logo is stamped. Alligator clip back.
Historical NoteThis Apollo tie bar was given to LBJ by professional engineer L.W. Warzecha. While working for General Electric, Warzecha conducted early feasibility studies of manned moon landing and led GE’s support of the NASA-Houston Apollo program.
Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
