Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. Two U.S. military men in a tank drive over wild flowers. A sign on the back of the tank reads "Iraq LBJ's Vietnam" - with "LBJ's Vietnam" crossed through. Military man is saying: "Maybe we should have gone with Lady Bird's legacy." Artist signature lower right: "Signe Wilkinson."
Historical NoteLyndon Johnson cared about how he would be remembered in history. While at the start of his presidency, he was known more for his Great Society and civil rights domestic policies, he would later also be associated with his involvement in Vietnam. On July 11 2007, Lady Bird Johnson died at the age of 94 in Austin, Texas.
