Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ, dressed as Santa Claus, has a small man (identifiable as Muhammad Ayub Khan) holding a list ("Ayub Wants:") on his lap. At the front of the line, two men (identifiable as Harold Wilson and Ludwig Erhard) wait, carrying their lists (“Wilson Wants:” and “Erhard Wants:”). Decorative stockings hang next to a sign (“Special! Sugarplums”). Caption: “Visiting Santa Claus”. Artist signature lower right: "B. Green”.

Historical NoteAfter the partition of India in 1947, the predominantly Muslim state of Jammu and Kashmir was made a part of India instead of Pakistan. In 1965, Pakistan invaded Kashmir to take the province and was unsuccessful. Ayub Khan was the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Harold Wilson was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Ludwig Erhard was the Chancellor of West Germany.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
