Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. On a ship ("The LBJ"), unthreatened by the waves ("Kremlin Upset" and "Chinese A-Bomb"), LBJ looks at a man (identifiable as Barry Goldwater) in a small boat calling, "Jump, I'll save you!". Additional text at lower right: “Kuekes, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Oct. 23, 1964”. Artist signature lower right: "Kuekes”.
Historical NoteDuring the 1964 election cycle, Lyndon B. Johnson ran as the Democratic candidate against Republican Barry Goldwater.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
