Historical NoteTheodore Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States and served from 1901-1909. He was a Republican and became president after William McKinley was assassinated. Mike Donovan was a boxer who taught Roosevelt and his sons to box.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
