Physical DescriptionPrint reproduction of cartoon drawing. LBJ lifts his shirt, showing a surgical scar resembling the shape of Vietnam. Artist signature lower right: "D. Levine”.
Historical NoteOn October 8, 1965, President Johnson underwent gallbladder surgery at Bethesda Naval Hospital to remove gall stones. Lyndon Johnson's involvement in the Vietnam War attracted many criticisms from Republicans, Democrats, independents, politicians, common citizens, and the international community. The war impacted his legacy, thus leaving a scar.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
