Historical NoteOn October 8, 1965, President Johnson underwent gallbladder surgery at Bethesda Naval Hospital to remove gall stones. Lyndon Johnson's involvement in the Vietnam War attracted many criticisms from Republicans, Democrats, independents, politicians, common citizens, and the international community. The war impacted his legacy, thus leaving a scar.
