The only thing keeping it from the edge is a man ("Goldberg") who leans on a tall building ("U.N.") that is propped under the world. Artist signature lower right: "©1965 Mauldin Chicago Sun-Times".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: "Bill Mauldin".
Historical NoteArthur Goldberg was the 6th US Ambassador to the United Nations, succeeding Adlai Stevenson. He was appointed to the Supreme Court by John F. Kennedy but resigned when Lyndon B. Johnson appointed him Ambassador.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
