Physical DescriptionPrint reproduction of a cartoon for the Vancouver Sun showing LBJ and two other passengers in a speeding convertible escorted by police motorcycles. Hand-written caption reads: "Now Here's the Deal... Phil Blacktops the Road from California to the Aleutians. Mike Gives Up the Yukon and Lyndon Gives Me Washington and Oregon." Artist signature lower right: "Norris Vancouver Sun".
Inscriptions and MarkingsInscribed in ink: "Best wishes WAC Bennett [arrow to] 55 [illegible] tonight for Wed. (Edit) Sept 16. 64."
Historical NoteIn the cartoon, a leadfooted Philip Gaglardi (British Columbia Minister of Highways,1952 to 1972) is at the wheel, while President Johnson rides in the back with flamboyantly-dressed William Andrew Cecil Bennett (British Colombia Premier 1952 - 1972 and founder of BC Hydro), and LBJ's contemporary Canadian Prime Minister Lester (Mike) Pearson, as they speed towards a 1964 cross-border ceremony.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
