Physical DescriptionPrint reproduction of cartoon drawing. A man (identifiable as Batman) flies holding onto a rope and says, “Give ‘em hell chief! (Glad to see you up and around again.)”. On his speech bubble is a bat symbol (“Batgram”). Additional text at center left: “T.M.”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across the bottom: “To President Johnson - With deep admiration, loyalty and respect - the first Batman post card - with a wish for excellent health and continued success. Sincerely, Harry Walker Staff and Anthony Benns”.
Historical NoteLyndon Johnson had a history of health problems, including heart attacks in July 1955 and April 1972, an appendix surgery in 1937, a kidney stone surgery January 1965, gallbladder surgery October 1965, and a benign polyp removal and repair of a scar from the gallbladder surgery in 1966.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
