Chester Bowles was the governor of Connecticut from 1949 to 1951 and a member of the House of Representatives from 1959 to 1969. Bowls served two terms as the U.S. Ambassador to India and Nepal, the first from 1951 to 1961 and the second from 1963 to 1969.
