Orville L. Freeman

United States, 1918 - 2003
A close political associate of Hubert Humphrey in their home state of Minnesota, Freeman was elected as a progressive governor of the state in 1954 while Humphrey served as mayor of Minneapolis. After losing his bid for re-election in 1960, President Kennedy appointed Freeman Secretary of Agriculture and he served in that post until 1969.
