Barbara Shermund was a cartoonist for the New Yorker from 1926 through 1944, where she published nearly 600 drawings and eight covers. She worked with numerous publications during this time, and later ran her own series, 'Shermund Sallies,' in Pictorial Review magazine from 1944 until 1957. Known for her distinctive drawing style and feminist rhetoric, Shermund was one of the first women approved into the National Cartoonist Society in 1950.
