Clifford "Baldy" Baldowski was an editorial cartoonist who drew over 15,000 cartoons during his career at The Atlanta Constitution. Baldy received four George Washington Medals from the Freedom Foundation for his works and was considered a Pulitzer Prize nominee in 1964. When President Lyndon B. Johnson campaigned in Georgia, he asked that Baldy send him the original cartoon depicting Georgians with their hands behind them, rather than outstretched in welcome.
