Scoop Jackson was a Washington politician and lawyer who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1941 to 1953 and the U.S. Senate from 1953 to 1983. Jackson campaigned as a Democratic presidential candidate in 1972 and 1976, but lost the nomination to George McGovern and Jimmy Carter respectively.
