Samuel Lewis was elected Auditor General of Pennsylvania in 1911, Treasurer of Pennsylvania in 1925, and Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania in 1939. Under Pennsylvania Governor John Fine, Lewis was appointed Secretary of the Department of Forest and Waters from 1951 to 1954.
