From 1903 to 1913, Joe Robinson was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Robinson was appointed Governor of Arkansas in 1912, but resigned in 1913 to take a seat in the United States Senate. In 1928, Robinson campaigned as the Democratic vice-presidential candidate under Democratic presidential candidate Al Smith.
