Grover Cleveland served as the Mayor of Buffalo in 1882 and as the Governor of New York in 1883. Cleveland was elected as the 22nd President of the United States in 1885. Cleveland lost the presidential election in 1888 to Republican nominee Benjamin Harrison but was re-elected as the 24th President in 1896.
