John W. Young; b. John Watts Young, Sept. 24, 1930, San Francisco; grew up in Orlando, Fla.; d. Friday [Jan. 5, 2018], Houston, aged 87; walked on the moon, commanded the first space shuttle mission, and became the first person to fly in space six times.
