An American astronaut, Aldrin was the second man to walk on the moon after Neil Armstrong. He was the lunar module Eagle pilot on the 1969 Apollo 11 mission. Aldrin was also an engineer and fighter pilot during the Korean War. He made three space walks as part of the Gemini mission in 1966.
