Borman is a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel, aeronautical engineer, former NASA astronaut and businessman. He was involved with Gemini and Apollo missions. During the Apollo 11 moon landing, he was NASA liaison to the White House and viewed the launch on television with President Nixon. After he retired from the Air Force and NASA in 1970, he served as senior vice president for operations at Eastern Air Lines until 1986.
