Harry F. Byrd Sr.

American, 1887 - 1966
He had a long political career in the state of Virginia as a state senator, governor, and United States Senator. Although a Democratic leader, he became known as the head of the Byrd Organization, a conservative faction of the party which blocked passage of liberal legislation.
