Julius Caesar

Roman, -100 - -44
He was a Roman general and statesman from July 100 BC to March 44 BC. His successful military leadership led to his assuming control of the Roman Empire. He initiated social and governmental reforms, including the creation of the Julian calendar. His reforms angered the elites who plotted against him, ultimately culminating in his stabbing death on the Ides of March.
