John Connally served as the United States Secretary of the Navy in 1961 under President John F. Kennedy. Eleven months later Connally resigned and ran for Governor of Texas, in which he served consecutive terms. In 1971, Connally was appointed as the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury in Nixon's administration.
