John Chase

Co-Founded the National Organization of Minority Architects (1971)
Member of the United States Commission on Fine Arts (1980)

John Chase was the first African American to receive a graduate degree in architecture from the University of Texas at Austin, as well as the first Black architect licensed in Texas. Chase established his own architectural firm, John S. Chase Architect Inc., in 1952 and has created a number of structures, including the Olivet Baptist Church (1961), Riverside National Bank (1963), and the United States Embassy in Tunisia (1952).
