Will Eisner

1917 - 2005
Eisner (March 1917-January 2005) was an American cartoonist , writer and entrepreneur who was one of the earliest cartoonists to work in the American comic book business. His series “The Spirit” was an urban crime fighter comic that was published in several newspapers and had more of an adult audience than his previous comic book work. He was an early user of the term “graphic novel” and he was one of the original inductees into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame which recognizes achievements annually in the comics medium.
