Herbert Block, more popularly known as Herblock, worked as an editorial cartoonist for the Washington Post for over 50 years, from 1946 until his death in 2001. Best known for his commentary on domestic and foreign policy, Herblock's political works covered every presidential administration, from Roosevelt to Lyndon B. Johnson to Bill Clinton. Herblock won three Pulitzer Prizes for editorial cartooning (1942, 1954, 1979), the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service (1973), the Presidential Medal of Freedom (1994), and other honors over the course of his nine-decade career.
