Physical DescriptionPrint reproduction of cartoon drawing. German clipping. A giant tapeworm has the face of a man (identifiable as Leonid Brezhnev). LBJ, a hunter, hides in the grass to sneak up on the worm. The worm has crushed several men while other men approach the worm. A man with a star on his helmet carries a bag of money. A man behind him carries supplies with the hammer and sickle symbol on them. A small piece of paper “10.I.64.(ZW)” adhered to lower right. Caption: “Ban-dung-wurm in Afrika [Tapeworm in Africa]”. Artist signature upper right: “H.U.W.”
Historical NoteDuring the decolonization of Africa, the Soviet Union provided financial aid to African countries. Leonid Brezhnev was the General Secretary of the Soviet Union.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
