Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. With a desert backdrop, two men (LBJ and "King Faisal") are crouched together at the end of a very long pipeline. A small tea set ("U.S. Visit") is in front of them. There are two crossed flags above them, and Faisal holds a portfolio ("Middle East Problems"). In the background, a man ("Nasser") holds his ear to the pipeline. Caption reads: "The Line Is Busy". Artist signature lower right: "Peb 66".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: "To President Johnson with my deepest respect". Handwritten at lower right: [in red] "645".
Historical NoteIn 1966, King Faisal of Saudi Arabia visited the United States and discussed mutual goals for the United States and Saudi Arabia with Lyndon Johnson. The man in the background, Gamal Abdel Nasser, was the president of Egypt when this cartoon was made.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
