Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ, at the wheel of his car, is letting off hitch-hikers (“McGovern”, “Shriver”). A sign at the intersection points back toward “LBJ Ranch” and “Pedernales”. Caption: “That's as Much I Can Do for You, Fellows--I'm Turning off Here. Good Luck!”. Artist signature lower left: "Ed Valtman ‘72”. A small piece of paper “The Hartford Times” adhered to lower left.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at upper center: [underline] “4 col”. Handwritten at upper right: [underline] “Aug. 24.”.
Historical NoteIn the 1972 presidential election, Richard Nixon ran for his second term against South Dakota Senator George McGovern. McGovern chose Sargent Shriver, a leader in the War on Poverty, to be his vice president.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
