An elephant ("GOP" "1968") with an injured right arm ("Goldwater - Reagan et al") talks to a donkey ("Dems" "1968") with a bandage ("Viet War") on its head and a bandage ("Rising Prices") on its tail. Caption reads: "I'm Still Having Trouble With My Right Wing!". Artist signature lower right: "6-15-66 Osrin Plain Dealer".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: "To President Johnson - I'm honored by your request - Thank You - Ray Osrin". Stamped at lower left "Jun 15 1966". Handwritten at lower right: "[circled] 55". Handwritten across top: "Wednesday Editorial Cartoon 5 3/8".
Historical NoteRepublicans and Democrats each faced challenges in the upcoming 1968 elections. The rising prices and Vietnam War were blamed on the Johnson administration while the Republican party had a strong split between its liberal and conservative wings.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
