Historical NoteIn January 1967, Lyndon Johnson delivered a State of the Union Address addressing past achievements of the Johnson administration and issues such as crime, taxes, and foreign policy. In 1967, Everett Dirksen was the Senate Minority Leader and Gerald Ford was the House Minority Leader.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
