Physical DescriptionPolitical poster. A large image of W.J. Bryan carrying a flag (Shall the People Rule W.J. Bryan) surrounded by people walking in the light ("The dawn of permanent prosperity"). The people are pushing out those in dark clothing ("Rule or Ruin").
Historical NoteWilliam Jennings Bryan ran for president on the Populist Party ticket three times; in 1896, 1900, and 1908. This poster was used during one of those elections.
Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
